When you face adversity, have you noticed that your typical prayer is, “God, get me out of this”? It might be trouble at work, a financial setback, or a sickness. There’s nothing wrong with that prayer, but before you get out, you have to invite God in. Sometimes the miracle is not in getting out; it’s in what God is going to do in the situation. Why don’t you start praying, “God, come into this hospital room, come into this trouble at work, come into this anxiety”? What is more powerful than God bringing you out is when He comes in and begins to change things.

In a rare victory in the work to prevent sexual assault, Hollywood behemoth, Harvey Weinstein was convicted of rape and sexual assault. Many of his victims and their supporters were afraid he would again avoid accountability and concerned what an acquittal would mean for the #MeToo movement. For decades, the idea Weinstein would be convicted and jailed seemed like it would take a miracle. Most rapists get away with their crimes and more so when the miscreant is rich and powerful.

Her name is Karen; she is a sales associate at one of our local Radio Shack Stores. I was making some minor purchases for our ministry and had presented her with our letter from the Commonwealth of Virginia exempting us from sales tax. As she entered the information into her computerized cash register she saw the name of our ministry. “You must help women,” she said.

As a child, Marcela looked up to both of her hardworking parents, but at 13, she discovered a very dark secret. She learned that her father was selling drugs. It was a secret she didn’t share with her mother, sister or anyone in her family. Shattered at discovering his secret, Marcela began looking for love away from home, outside of her family.

The biggest shock I had upon my entry into the ministry in 1979 was the discovery that over 70% of my one-on-one counseling was with victims of sexual abuse. The majority of them proved to be adult survivors of childhood molestation. One out of every three girls, and one out of every six boys will be the victim of a sexual assault by the age of eighteen!
